Daily Bible Reading

Tuesday, October 17 Hebrews 2; 2 Kings 22-23; Psalm 128
Wednesday, October 18 Hebrews 3; 2 Chronicles 36:1-8; Psalms 129-130
Thursday, October 19 Hebrews 4; Daniel 1-4
Friday, October 20 Hebrews 5; Daniel 7-8; Psalms 131-132
Saturday, October 21 Hebrews 6; Daniel 5-6; Psalms 133-134

Some notes about this plan:  the Gospels are spaced out so the story of Jesus will be fresh throughout the year.  The Old Testament is divided up chronologically as the event happend.  Psalms is indicated by parentheses which have their historical accounts.  The other Psalms, which were written from the time of David through the end of the Old Testament, are scattered throughout the readings.

Tree of Wisdom

The Tree of Wisdom is an exciting memory work program we are beginning here at University on September 10 and will continue until May when we will have a banquet to celebrate our accomplishments. The program will be geared toward kids kindergarten though sixth grades, but is open to anyone who would like to work on memorizing some of God's word. The way the program will work is that immediately after class each child who wants to participate can come by a table set up in the west foyer, they can recite their verse(s) from memory for the week. The followin gweek they will recite that same verse and the next one on the list. Once the child has repeated the verse they will receive an oak leaf that will be placed on our Tree of Wisdom which will be located on the wall outside the training room. Each child will have his/her own branch on the tree. A listing of the scriptures we will memorize can be picked up in the foyer. There are suggested dates for when the scriptures can be done, but any child can get started at any time in the program and they can go at their own pace. They can do five verses the first week aor they can skip two weeks before they start again. They must do them in the order on the sheet and they must be repeated before they can receive their leaf for that scripture. Also, there will be prizes awarded along the way for every fifth memory verse that is repeated such as ice cream tickets, frozen ice, and movie passes. We will also be giving each child participating a CD with most of the scriptures on it put to music. We have also sprinklied in some additional verses from Acts, which is the book being focused on at LTC this year. All it takes to get started is to start memorizing the first scripture and come tell it to us. So come join us for this exciting new program and parents come watch our tree grow from a stump in to a beautiful oak by spring. If anyone would like more information or would like to help, please contact DeeJon and Jennifer Douglass at 655-2239.
